Few movements have shaped modern watchmaking like the El Primero, the world’s first automatic integrated high-frequency chronograph calibre, introduced by Zenith in 1969. With the Chronomaster Solo Sport, unveiled at Geneva Watch Days 2026, Zenith asks what El Primero means beyond the chronograph — and answers with the collection’s first three-hand watch.
Freed from the chronograph display, the Solo Sport brings attention back to cadence, precision and the sensation of high frequency on the wrist. Its 40 mm stainless steel case pairs compact proportions with a ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel and dynamic crown protectors, good for 20 ATM of water resistance — neither overtly sporty nor strictly elegant, but designed to move naturally through the rhythm of everyday life.
At its heart beats the El Primero 3620, derived from the 3600 chronograph calibre and running at the signature 5 Hz (36,000 VpH), with silicon escapement, stop-second mechanism and 60 hours of power reserve. The ceramic dial makes frequency visible: a repeated 45° “Z” motif — engraved on sunray white, polished black or brown surfaces — was developed exclusively for the Solo Sport as a visual signature of high frequency, echoed in the seconds hand counterweight and framed by a “shark tooth” minute track drawn from historical Zenith references.
The steel bracelet closes with the ZENCLASP™, Zenith’s new folding clasp — 41 components, three years in development — whose tool-free micro-adjustment offers 10 mm of range in 2.5 mm steps. Four versions are available: black, white or brown ceramic dials with date, plus a purist no-date black. Available now at Zenith boutiques, online and through authorised retailers.
