Eternal legacies

HYT partners with Ahmed Seddiqi to celebrate 75 Years with three bespoke S1 masterpieces

Like sands through an hourglass, so are the days of our lives… Or at least so we’ve been told. But in HYT’s universe, however, time is measured by a hydromechanical movement and flows as freely, or as slowly, as the hours in your day. It’s a uniquely fascinating complication, and one that perfectly captures the three-quarter-century legacy of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons — especially in this new partnership.
In a tribute that bridges heritage and innovation, HYT has unveiled three extraordinary one-of-one S1 Bespoke Edition timepieces to mark Seddiqi’s 75th anniversary. The S1 Seddiqi Titanium Green, S1 Seddiqi Titanium Blue and S1 Seddiqi Titanium Sand embody both brands’ shared commitment to craftsmanship, culture and the relentless pursuit of innovation — and they do it in fine style.
Each of the three unique watches integrates HYT’s groundbreaking hydromechanical technology, where two immiscible liquids — one coloured, one transparent — flow within a borosilicate glass capillary to display the passage of time. Driven by the calibre 501-CM, a 352-component movement with a 72-hour power reserve, this complication transforms the ancient concept of water clocks into 21st-century mechanical art. The 7S crown engraving and Eastern Arabic numerals across the dial mark this as a distinctly Middle Eastern collaboration — and one that unites Swiss precision with regional identity.
The colour story runs deeper than design. Titanium Sand recalls the desert landscapes where the Seddiqi legacy began in 1950, a tribute to permanence and tradition. Titanium Green evokes growth, prosperity and renewal, reflecting the family’s role in cultivating Dubai’s luxury watch culture. Titanium Blue, inspired by the Arabian Gulf, represents the future: a horizon of limitless possibility, just as Ahmed Seddiqi continues to expand its influence beyond the region.
Each case, crafted in ceramic-coated titanium, measures 45.3mm by 17.2mm, engineered for both presence and comfort. A quick-change strap system allows collectors to shift from sleek black rubber to Velcro with ease, underlining HYT’s reputation for technical pragmatism beneath its visual audacity. These pieces aren’t just commemorative; they are mechanical sculptures in motion, celebrating a philosophy as much as an anniversary.
At the heart of the collaboration lies a shared appreciation for storytelling through innovation. HYT’s hydromechanical display, the winner of the 2012 GPHG Innovation Prize, is an emblem of forward thinking, while Seddiqi’s 75-year journey embodies curation at its finest: a balance of respect for heritage and enthusiasm for the new.
As Mohamed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, CEO of Ahmed Seddiqi, noted in advance of Dubai Watch Week: “As we celebrate Ahmed Seddiqi’s 75th anniversary, we remain committed to consistently expanding our offering, while we nurture our legacy. Each timepiece created to celebrate this milestone has a story, and it’s our responsibility to share that story for generations to come.”
The S1 75th Anniversary Bespoke Editions are more than a meeting of two Maisons. They are a dialogue between eras, between the flow of time and the permanence of legacy. In the shimmering light of Dubai, where tradition meets innovation, HYT’s liquid time finds its truest reflection.
