One week from now, the Gulf’s jewellery calendar reaches its Qatari crescendo. The 17th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition opens 28 September at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, running through 3 October with more than 500 brands under one roof and some 30,000 visitors expected through its doors.
Organised by Qatar Tourism and presented by Visit Qatar, DJWE has grown into one of the region’s premier luxury gatherings — a week when the world’s great maisons, independent ateliers and rising regional designers share the same polished floor, and when Doha’s hotels fill with collectors who plan their autumns around it.
This edition carries a particular anticipation: originally slated for spring, the exhibition was moved to its new autumn dates, and the six-day programme promises direct engagement with master jewellers and watchmakers alongside the exceptional pieces themselves.
For the GCC’s collectors, DJWE has always offered something the international fairs cannot — proximity. The maisons bring their high jewellery to the Gulf rather than the other way around, and the exhibition’s blend of global names and regional talent makes it as much a statement about Doha’s place in the luxury landscape as a marketplace. We will be watching what surfaces on the stands come the 28th; on this evidence, the season is opening exactly where the momentum is.
