With a steely focus on supporting the education and empowerment of children with special needs through Dubai Cares and UNICEF India, Medha Nanda, founder of the groundbreaking Art be a Part initiative, saw her dreams come to fruition during one dazzling evening in November.
The Art be a Part Gala, which took place at Bâoli Dubai and in which a live auction of 15 exclusive art pieces formed the central excitement, welcomed 180 guests all determined to make a difference with their mindful giving. Philanthropists, patrons of the arts, artists and business leaders all came together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere, poetry and dance performances and – most importantly – make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children with their contributions. A silent auction also contributed to the evening’s charitable total, helping to maximise Art be a Part’s impact.
Works from renowned artists including Domingo Zapata, whose collaborations with watch brand Cal1x are currently making waves, as well as Paresh Maity and Maryam Sharaf Alhashmi were all put under the hammer by the Art be a Part Gala’s returning auctioneer Tom Urquhart. The breathtaking selection of artwork, curated by Four Seasons Ramesh Gallery founder Neel Shukla, created an unprecedented buzz that allowed the total raised to exceed all expectations.
“I extend my deepest gratitude to each of you — our guests, artists and sponsors — for your overwhelming generosity and support,” said Medha on the evening. “Together, we have raised over Dhs1.5 million, funds that will impact thousands of children with unique abilities in India, offering them meaningful opportunities for education and empowerment. Your kindness is a true blessing to these children and their families, creating hope and a brighter future. We also would like to extend our thanks to UNICEF India and Dubai Cares. Thank you for standing with us to make a difference.
