L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewellery Arts, Opens Prestigious Dubai Campus
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of The Executive Council of Dubai, has inaugurated the first permanent campus of the prestigious L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts in Dubai. The launch marks a significant milestone for both L’ÉCOLE’s global expansion and Dubai’s rising status as a hub for creativity and design.
Dubai: A Global Design Destination
Sheikha Latifa highlighted Dubai’s growing reputation as a global design center, saying, “Dubai offers an environment that fosters business enterprise and creativity…The establishment of L’ÉCOLE’s first headquarters in the Middle East in Dubai underscores the city’s pivotal role in the creative industries and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation.”
L’ÉCOLE, located in Dubai Design District (d3) and supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, aims to introduce the public to jewellery culture while training artisans and designers. This educational mission fosters innovation and supports entrepreneurship, contributing to Dubai’s knowledge-based economy.
Art, Craft, and Philanthropy
The new campus houses L’ÉCOLE Middle East’s first regional exhibition, ‘Gold and Treasures: 3000 Years of Chinese Ornaments.’ This display, showcasing 100 masterpieces from a renowned Hong Kong collection, offers insight into the millennia-long legacy of Chinese goldsmithing.
L’ÉCOLE Middle East will offer 13 carefully researched public courses delving into jewellery’s art, history, and design. Experts and industry professionals will guide students in exploring this rich discipline. The school has also made a commitment to social responsibility by donating 100% of course proceeds to Dubai Cares, a philanthropic organization improving access to education in developing countries.
A Campus Designed for Learning
The Dubai Design District campus is designed by Constance Guisset, reflecting L’ÉCOLE’s values of craftsmanship, heritage, and creativity. Following the school’s distinctive educational approach, the campus design emphasizes its three foundational pillars: Art History of Jewellery, The World of Gemstones, and Savoir-Faire. This structured design guarantees a comprehensive learning experience for those seeking to understand and appreciate jewellery arts.
